Gable Conservatories
A bold and elegant living space…
A popular choice, the strong, clean lines of the Gable conservatory hark back to the elegance and grandeur of the early nineteenth century that set styles and fashions still held in esteem today: bold architectural statements and confident rectangular shapes that make the best use of your available floor space.
At Window-Mart, our craftsmen will take pride in producing whatever design you want in beautiful coloured and leaded glass to add character and individuality.
Just like all of our conservatories, orangeries and Lean To conservatories, Gable Conservatories can be fully customised to match the style of your home so that, as well as selecting unique features such as coloured glass, you can also choose from a wide range of frame finishes and external cornice.
Victorian Conservatories
An elegant addition to any type of property
The Victorian conservatory complements a Victorian property perfectly but you don’t need to live in a Victorian home to enjoy its stylish features.
It adds a bold yet elegant statement of individuality to even the most modern of properties.
Available in a range of stunning finishes (including the dual finish of white on the inside and wood effect on the outside) and with an immensely versatile roof system, the Victorian conservatory can also be combined with a Lean To conservatory to allow virtually limitless sizes, shapes and configuration.
Edwardian Conservatories
Bright and Stylish
The Edwardian era was a time when architects started to flex their imaginations by combining bold, rectangular shapes with decorative flourishes, finials, flamboyant crestings and coloured glass.
The Edwardian conservatory has an airy feel and a timeless appearance that blends well with properties both old and new.
So if it’s a stylish, bright, open, informal living area for dining, painting or simply watching the world go by that you are looking for, take a close look at this conservatory.
We feel sure you’ll be impressed by it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What styles of conservatory do you offer?
We offer Sun Lounges, Victorian, Edwardian, Gable and Combination conservatories, as well as fully bespoke designs. Whatever the style of your home, we can tailor the design, frame finish and glazing to suit it.
Do I need planning permission for a conservatory?
Most conservatories fall under permitted development and do not need planning permission, provided they stay within size and height limits and are not on a listed building or in a conservation area. Building regulations are separate from planning permission and can still apply even when planning permission is not needed, so it is worth checking both before you start. Contact us for advice specific to your property.
Will my conservatory be too hot in summer or too cold in winter?
This is a common concern with older, all glass conservatories. If you would like the light, airy feel of a conservatory with the comfort and energy efficiency of a proper extension, you can choose a solid, tiled roof rather than a standard glazed roof, an option we call All Seasons Living. This can be specified on a new conservatory or added later as a roof replacement on an existing one. See our Ultraroof page for more on how this works.
What is the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?
A conservatory is predominantly glazed with a lightweight glass or polycarbonate roof, while an orangery has more brickwork, typically with brick pillars and a flat roof with a central lantern. This gives an orangery more privacy and a taller, more dramatic interior, while still flooding the room with light.
What is the difference between a Victorian and an Edwardian conservatory?
A Victorian conservatory has a bay fronted, multi-faceted shape and is available in dual finishes, such as white on the inside and wood effect on the outside, and can be combined with a Lean To conservatory for larger or more versatile layouts. An Edwardian conservatory has a simpler, rectangular footprint with bold architectural detailing, giving a bright, open feel that suits both period and modern homes.
Can I design my conservatory roof style myself?
Yes. You can use the interactive roof designer tool on this page to explore different roof styles before getting in touch, and our design team will work with you from initial concept through to completion.
Can I choose the colour and finish of my conservatory frame?
Yes. Our conservatories are available in a wide range of frame finishes and external cornice options, along with features such as coloured or leaded glass, so you can match the conservatory to the style and character of your home.
Do you handle the whole conservatory project, including décor and landscaping?
Yes. Our own dedicated, skilled workforce carries out the full installation without the added cost of outside contractors, right down to the internal final décor or external landscaping if you need it.
Which areas do you cover for conservatory installations?
We specialise in the supply, installation and construction of conservatories and orangeries in and around Horsham and the wider South East.
